A string containing the software version.
Recommended format is as follows: the string consists of
fixed and optional part. Fixed part contains software
version as 4 numbers separated by dot characters (eg.
'1.0.0.20'). This fixed part must use only digit and dot
characters.
The optional part contains additional description, it must
begin with a space character as delimiter.
