The X.29 profile index specifies one of the pre-defined sets of X.3 parameter values that govern the interaction between the calling device and the PAD. The PAD uses the profile definition to construct an X.29 SET PAD message which is the first DATA packet the PAD sends after it accepts an incoming call.
